Bent Treet Country Club Reception

I am taking the opportunity to share a little bit about myself and some details from my own wedding!  I will also be sharing some of the other weddings I have planned and coordinated on here soon.

The first party I ever planned was for my parents wedding anniversary when I was ten years old.  I remember asking my dad for phone numbers for their closest friends and coordinating with the neighbor to plan the meal at her house.  Fast forward to college, where I had the opportunity to plan social events for my sorority and worked my first wedding in Dallas.  I love creating an environment for guests to enjoy.  From dinner parties, weddings, and other social events, I want everyone to have a fabulous time!

Sam and I were married in Dallas, Texas on July 16, 2016.  I always dreamed of getting married in the church I grew up in.  I wanted to create an event that was timeless, elegant, and that had lots of fun details throughout the evening.  Scroll down to see more from our wedding!

One of the most special parts of the wedding was getting to wear my mom's wedding dress.  My mom and dad were married in January of 1976.  Her dress came from Neiman Marcus and has stood the test of time.

Surprisingly, the dress fit perfectly!  It had yellowed through the years so we sent it off to be restored and whitened.  We also gave it an update by removing the Victorian neckline.

With the help of one of my mom's dear friends we also added the open back.

To make the dress even more special my mom added buttons from my grandmother's dress.  She was married in 1944.

This has been one of our favorite pictures from our wedding day.  Erin Wilson did an amazing job capturing all the special moments.  She is incredibly talented and made us feel so comfortable.

Our ceremony officiant was my high school track coach.  It was really special to have him lead us through the marriage ceremony.

The food was AMAZING.  The chef at Bent Tree Country Club not only created a delicious menu but the presentation was perfect.  This is from the avocado action station.  Perfect for a hot summer evening. Guests also enjoyed chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, and a slider station.   Interactive food stations are such a treat and also help alleviate long lines.

Instead of a groom's cake, we opted to have "Duncan Donuts"!

Both my parents went to the University of Arkansas and anyone who knows my dad knows how much he loves his Razorbacks.  It only seemed fitting for us to do our dance to the Arkansas Fight song followed by the classic hog call.  Woo Pig Sooie!

Now let's talk cake.  THIS CAKE.  Not only was it gorgeous but it is the best cake I have ever eaten.  It is from a bakery in Dallas called Panini.  It is a vanilla cake with white chocolate raspberry mousse.  Just thinking about it makes me drool!    The best part about it?  Instead of freezing the cake top to eat for our first anniversary, Panini gave us a complimentary cake.  Hooray for cake that was not freezer burned!

I couldn't post this without sharing a glimpse of the real Sam Duncan.  I can't remember what Erin Wilson told Sam to do, but this is how he responded.  There are plenty of others where this came from.

We placed koozies and sunglasses at the bars for guests to grab and enjoy!

Halfway through the reception I changed out of my mom's dress into something I could really dance in.

Guests loved having this light up tambourines on the dance floor.  They were brought out on silver trays too!

What better way to leave the reception than by golf cart?  Bridesmaids bouquets were repurposed and tied on the back.

Special shout out to Kirstin Godat for taking over all the details on the wedding day and coordinating so I could enjoy being a bride :)

It was an incredible evening with friends and family we adore.  We would give anything to relive it but love the memories we have from that night.

Cheers!

Erin
